We believe that megagames should be accessible to all, diverse, and most importantly, fun. We want to encourage creativity in more people to design and run new megagames, and not just limit it to those affluent enough to be able to fund it themselves.
Megagames Scotland aims to do the following:
- Ensure we can run megagames in venues that are accessible for all attendees.
- Host megagames in a range of locations across Scotland, with lots of transport options.
- Enable more people to be able to design and run megagames in Scotland.
- Focus on key details, like the feel of game components, the layout of game handbooks, and the all important post-game venue for a social (where the real debrief happens).
- Aim to compensate people for their services, whether it’s someone doing graphic design, writing a brand new megagame, or facilitating in a megagame. We aren’t here to make a profit, but that doesn’t mean that others shouldn’t be reimbursed somehow for their efforts.
- We want to make sure that players walk away from our games buzzing with excitement, and enthusiastic to get to another game. Whether that’s here with us, or with one of the other megagame groups across the country, we just want to make sure they’ve had a good time.
